The History of Twin Bayous – The Vampyre Journal – Pt. 2

On Sunday, James and Carina met at church. They both thought the other was kidding, but having nothing better to do on Sunday, they each decided they would go to the Masimic Temple and “check it out”. Dobbs was the first to arrive.

He went inside and took a seat.

After a while, he felt a little stupid and he went outside. He was a bit surprised when he saw Carina dressed in her cook whites. Dobbs joked that he had been inside warming a pew for Carina.

The pair went inside and took a seat in the front row.

It seemed that they were early and the next service was not for another half hour. Carina made small talk and asked Dobbs about his day.

Dobbs talked about how he had just arrived in town and that he was glad to have meet someone to talk to. Carina replied that people in town normally did not want to talk to her. She did not say why and he did not ask.

When James asked Carina about her day, her demeanor suddenly changed to a face of frustration. She had just lost her job at the restaurant because of a conflict with the punk rock band that she played in on weekends.

As people started to come into the sanctuary for the start of the next service, Dobbs suggested that they go someplace else.

Dobbs said that he was hungry and he suggested to Carina that they go to the restaurant that she had been fired from. He told her that he would pay for dinner and that he would get her job back for her.

Carina asked Dobbs how he was going to do that and he replied that he would “talk to the guy”. So, they went to the restaurant.

At some point during dinner, Dobbs got up to go to the restroom and when he came back he told Carina that she had her job back.

Carina said with a smirk on her face that she did not believe him. Dobbs said that he spoke with the manager and told him that the food was much better when Chef Carina worked here. Dobbs added: “I told him that if he knew what was good for him that he would get Chef Carina back in here right away.”

Carina gave Dobbs a sharp look, trying to decide if Dobbs was telling the truth or not. He told her: “Go on inside!  Their waiting to talk to you.”

Carina still did not believe what he was saying, but Carina was starting to have a feeling about this guy. So, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and went inside to talk to the manager.

When Carina came back outside, she was happy to report that she did in fact have her job back. She was mildly surprised to see that Dobbs had somehow managed to change into a white dinner jacket and black tie. When he suggested that they go out dancing, she accepted.

Carina and Dobbs went to Luminos Disco and had good time dancing.

At some point in the night, they stopped dancing and they starting kissing.

Soon after that, Carina led Dobbs off the dance floor and told him that they should go someplace else.

A short while later they were kissing again in a darkened hallway.

It was the hallway of Carina’s home.

She asked Dobbs to spend the night.

The next morning, James asked Carina how it was that a sous chef could afford to live in such a nice place.

Carina explained that she inherited a “ton of money” from her great-grandfather. She explained that her job at the restaurant was important to her for personal reasons and had nothing to with money.

She told him that she owned the rights to Mark Clemens’ bestselling children’s book “The Witch of the Twin Boughs” which was soon to be made into a movie. “My family is a little weird,” she added with a nervous laugh.

Dobbs interest in Carina suddenly went to another level. He had never meet a girl quite like her before.
